things to listen to whilst watching surfing... things to watch while not surfing... guarantee you have a laugh or two over at "pinchmysalt" I don't care who you is... unless your Laird or K/slay maybe.

Hurricane Sandy has destroyed the lives and dreams of many. From the Caribbean all the way up the U.S. North East mpany are still dealing with the effects of what this storm has produced. I can't help but think of what a shame it is that such a small concentrated area can have so many people who have no idea of the potential threat of their location and do nothing for themselves about it. New York is like any other costal state here in the eastern United States, completely unprotected from tropical disturbances. People have lost homes, families have lost lives of their loved ones and there is nothing that can compare to what they have gone through unless you have done the same; but there are people who need help and that is what this is all about. So check out wavesforwater.org as well as the American Red Cross just to name a few for aid. Any bit helps, thanks!

I have to say I didn't see the connection between these two untill I was aware of this weeks 'week in review' by
surfermag.com. there's a video of Kassia Meador and Mikey DeTemple wearing clothes while logging some fun looking knee slappers.
However it looks as though Mr. DeTemple has been a donor do to too many thrift stores in the eastern Caribbean. Dropping off his unwanted 'duds' to those in need. It seems as though he isn't the only one who has found out that they aren't water proof.
Everything aside I would like to say my thought and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones due to this hurricane season. Even though we look forward to what waves these storms may produce here on the east coast they also create unthinkable situations to those whose family are affected by these storms.

Rockaway, NY? you should go there. It very well could be better than any east coast spot in the continental U.S. Just take a second and check out google. Jetties, hipsters, culture, sick beats, endless amounts of hoes, shoulder to shoulder in each lineup, a VD?...if you surf there you may find yourself with one; however, I digress. Surfing is still hella cool! Keep up the stoke, but keep it up north...

I dig that most of his footage isn't in super slow motion so you can actually see what, and how he does what he can do on a wave but I've been waiting for a while to be blown away by some Dane footage and I just haven't see it. I think Dane is an awesome surfer, lightyears beyond anyone I'm sure I will ever see surfing in my lifetime but I'm tired of his hype. I'm just wandering why quik and so many major publications are spending so much money on this lackadaisical "professional". Doesn't seem to be the best image for the future of surfing, not the best roll model for our youth I don't believe. There are so many out there who are actually trying to do new things with their surfing and not being recognized who seem to be a lot better surfers than D.R. and they arn't even on the tour? who could have though? just sayin...

I'm a huge fan of Christenson's shapes ever since Scotty Stopnik first began riding his boards, (yeah I creep when it comes to industry not too involved with our coast). I even had the privilege of meeting Chris this year at Orlando's surf expo. Super genuine guy however; I personally don't believe that the Fitzs' belongs on the same list as Justin Beiber, just sayin'. Especially considering Joel and Kye's dad has been shaping longer than most of today's newest/freshest shapers have been living.
